Kevin Reeves

Kevin ReevesMy interest in photography was first sparked by a visit to a pawn shop and the purchase of a cheap 35mm film camera. But, the introduction of digital cameras and a trip to Europe set in motion a desire to learn more about photography and how to use the camera to document the world as I see it.

I am a self-taught photographer who prefers black and white photography. It allows me to express the form, light and texture of my subjects. Most of my work centers on the landscapes, architecture, and heritage of rural eastern North Carolina and the high country of northwestern North Carolina.

I spent my entire childhood in Ashe County, growing up in West Jefferson. I’m a graduate of Beaver Creek High School and attended Greensboro College and North Carolina State University. After graduation I moved to LaGrange, NC and began a twenty-five year career in turkey production. My parents are lifelong residents of Ashe County.

I joined the Goldsboro Area Photography Club in 2012 and really enjoy learning from the other members and sharing photography experiences. I am currently serving as President of the New Hope Ruritan Club and spend my leisure time attending North Carolina State University sports and Carolina Hurricanes hockey. I’m a mediocre golfer, avid bluegrass fan and in the warmer weather can be found camping, hiking or kayaking. And whatever I’m doing or wherever I travel, you can be sure my cameras, a Canon 60D or EOS-M, are never far away.

I am excited to be part of the arts community back in my hometown.
